Newborn screening for treatable leukodystrophies is absolutely vital for effective treatment and has been implemented in several countries across the world.
We have been fighting to add adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) to the UK Newborn Screening Blood Spot Programme since 2017 and submitted extensive additional evidence to the National Screening Committee (NSC) this month.
We are keeping everything crossed that this evidence can help swifter adoption of screening for ALD in the UK.
