A mode of genetic inheritance where the gene responsible for the disorder is located on the X chromosome. This typically means that the disease or disorder will have a greater effect on males: Males have one X and Y chromosome, females have two X chromosomes. This means that if a female has a mutated gene on one X chromosome, the effects are somewhat balanced by the other X chromosome, while a male does not have this second X.
