Payroll Giving (sometimes known as Give as You Earn) is an easy and tax-efficient way of making regular donations to Alex TLC straight from your gross pay.
By donating to us from your gross pay it means there is no income tax liability on your donation and you will pay less tax. Donations made from gross pay also mean we don’t need to claim Gift Aid on your donation. Payroll Giving is especially efficient for medium and higher rate taxpayers, allowing larger donations at a lower cost.

Benefits of Payroll Giving
It’s tax free
Payroll Giving is deducted from your pay before tax, so your gift will go even further. For example, a £10 donation will only cost you £8 if you’re a standard rate taxpayer.
It’s effortless
It’s easy to set up and the donation is automatically taken from your gross income every time you’re paid. You can increase or cancel your donation at any time through your payroll department.
Your donations stop automatically if you change jobs or retire
So you won’t need to contact us to let us know. You’ll be able to set up Payroll Giving again if your new employer takes part in the scheme. If you’re retiring, your employer may be able to continue your donation through your pension – it’s worth checking with them.
Your employer may match your donation
Many workplaces offer to match their employees’ donations. Check with your employer to see if they can make your donation go even further.

Payroll Giving for employers
Payroll Giving is a tax-efficient scheme that allows your employees to donate to us directly from their salary.
Why Payroll Giving?
Payroll Giving is a scheme which allows employees to donate to charity from their pay tax-free. Employees can opt to donate to any UK charity or good cause from their salary. Contributions are deducted from gross pay before tax is calculated by the employer’s payroll department. Donating to charities tax-free directly through your salary is the most tax-efficient way to give.
Payroll Giving donations are taken from pay after National Insurance but before tax. A donation of £5 a month would actually cost an employee £4 from their take-home pay (if they pay 20% tax) or £3 (if they pay 40% tax).
Payroll Giving is important. Encouraging regular donations is vital for the future of charities. Charities big and small depend on the regular income that Payroll Giving provides as it allows them to plan their work including research, building projects, and giving practical help to those vulnerable and in need.

“Payroll Giving was really easy to set up for me because a lady came into store, I asked if I could give to Alex TLC, gave her the charity number and she searched and found it straight away. Alex is close to my family’s heart because of my grandson who has ALD, they need all the help they can get I know most people say this about a charity that they support but if you read up on this you would realise what a sad illness this is.”
