Karen Amber, Trustee

Karen is a Sustainability and Social Value Manager for an NHS Organisation. Karen began her working life in Conservation and Research which enabled her to work all around the globe for many years. As her family life changed Karen changed direction and retrained to become a qualified and registered Operating Department Practitioner, working clinically in Anaesthetics and progressing to Theatre Manager. Karen then stepped out of the clinical setting and into Strategic Management where she led the workforce, education, development and training for the Allied Health Professionals across Kent and Medway, picking up several post graduate qualifications along the way including an MBA in Healthcare Management and undertaking an internship with the National Institute of Health research. Karen is passionate about people, about Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, she is a champion for care and she is also an advocate for volunteering which is what brought Karen to Alex TLC.
