A comedy short produced by the Newborn Screening Collaborative

As a member of the Newborn Screening Collaborative, we are thrilled to share the promotional poster for the upcoming comedy short, “A Rare Find”, a film which we hope will help kickstart a conversation surrounding newborn screening!

A Rare Find follows two new parents during the thrills, spills, and let’s be perfectly honest…absolute carnage that can be life with a newborn baby, likely the last thing on new parent’s minds is screening for ultra rare conditions…

But thankfully the blood spot test offered to all babies in the UK is simple, quick, and can provide a little peace of mind amongst the chaos…and for those affected by rare diseases, potentially greatly reduce the “diagnostic odyssey”.

Our current programme however could certainly be a lot better which is why we, along with The Newborn Screening Collaborative, developed this fun comedy short to raise awareness of screening and emphasise how important it is for others to get involved with advocacy.


The poster was designed by the hugely talented Lingxi Zhang (Invisible Manners, Invisible Interviews, and we want to say a huge thank you for her involvement and continued support of the rare disease community.

The film is written and directed by Niemann-Pick UK‘s Head of Communications John Lee Taggart, produced by Chris Thompson and Media Borne, and features narration from Robert Webb (Peep Show, That Mitchell and Webb Look)
